1. What are the contraindications to receiving a Shiatsu seated massage?
Shiatsu seated massage is appropriate for nearly everyone, regardless of age, sex, body shape or size. However, following are several exceptions:
Pregnancy: A Shiatsu seated massage is not suited for women during pregnancy.
Fever: Any kind of acute illness with fever is unsuitable for Shiatsu treatment as the fever is a sign that the body is already busy fighting off the infection.
Injuries and Medications: It's important to tell your therapist at the beginning of the session if you're taking any medication affecting the central nervous system or if you've had any injuries that aren't 100% healed such as wounds, hernias, fractures, inflamed joints, etc. so that the therapist can avoid further injury.

2. What is the difference between a Shiatsu seated massage and receiving a traditional Shiatsu session?
Whereas a seated masage is intended to be relaxing, refreshing, stress-reducing, and to help prevent repetitive strain injuries, a traditional Shiatsu session is often therapeutic in nature. The tempo of a seated massage is faster, too, with three phases: the first one to relax the client, the second as a transition, and ending with a more stimulating phase leaving the client relaxed but wide awake and full of new energy.

3. Can you come to my house to give seated massage?
Yes! I am happy to come to your house or place of business if there are a minimum of four 15-minute massages to give. I'll need open space of 2 meters by 2 meters to work. If you are located outside Limburg, you'll also be charged mileage. See the fees page for more information.

4. What should I wear for my Shiatsu seated massage?
Most streetwear and office dress is appropriate for receiving a seated massage. Some men find it more comfortable to loosen their ties during the massage.
